Much like the Time Lord in the show itself, as one season of Doctor Who comes to an end, another materializes in its place. According to TVLine, the BBC has renewed the sci-fi series for an eighth season.

The news doesn't come as much of a surprise, especially when you take into consideration the yea- long celebration the network has to honor the property's 50th anniversary. There's a 3D special debuting on Nov. 23 starring Matt Smith, Jenna-Louise Coleman, former Doctor and companion David Tennant and Billie Piper, as well as John Hurt, Jemma Redgrave and Joanna Page. Meanwhile, An Adventure in Space and Time, a TV movie about the creation of the series, will air at some point later this year.

Showrunner Steven Moffat is reportedly already working on new episodes for the upcoming season.
