‘It’s Looking Like’ Orlando Bloom Will Return For The Hobbit

Four months after a report emerged that Orlando Bloom might appear The Hobbit, the actor says “it’s looking like” he’ll reprise his role as Legolas in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings prequel.

“Yeah, it’s looking like that,” Bloom tells Collider. I’m really excited about going to see Pete again. It’s still a little up in the air, but the idea of working with Pete is fantastic. I can’t actually really talk too much about it, at this point. I just was given the script to piece through, so it’s quite exciting.”

Asked whether he has to physically prepare to return to the role of the Elven archer, Bloom replied, “Are you telling me that I’ve put on weight, in the last 10 years? I just have to grow my hair really long and blond again.”

He’ll join a sprawling cast that includes Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan, Andy Serkis, Richard Armitage, Ken Stott, Graham McTavish, William Kircher, James Nesbitt, Stephen Hunter, Rob Kazinksy, Aidan Turner, Peter Hambleton, John Callen, Jed Brophy, Mark Hadlow, Adam Brown, Cate Blachett, Elijah Wood, Jeffrey Thomas, Mike Mizrahi and, as of earlier this week, Flight of the Conchords star Bret McKenzie.

In other Hobbit news, Heat Vision reports that Andy Serkis, who plays Gollum, will serve as Jackson’s second-unit director on the two films, which began shooting in New Zealand on March 21.
