There's a new take on Frankenstein heading to Fox, and it is definitely unlike any previous iteration of the literary monster.

Deadline reports the network has given a put pilot order for Frankenstein, a "grounded sci-fi drama" to be executive produced by Rand Ravich (Life) and Howard Gordon (Homeland). Ravich will write the pilot.

Monster movie fans hoping to see creepy castles, Igor or the monster's big-haired bride will have to adjust their expectations. The show will focus on morally bankrupt FBI agent Adam Tremble after he is brought back from the dead younger and stronger than before.

Tremble will fight his inner demons while tackling threats too big for the FBI and dealing with the people responsible for his reanimation. How's that for a new twist on an old favorite?

The series marks Gordon's return to the sci-fi genre following his early days as a writer on The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Ravich wrote and directed the 1999 sci-fi-tinged film The Astronaut's Wife.
