The Crazies director Breck Eisner's next project is the upcoming Escape From New York remake. Few fans are fond of the idea of someone else stepping into Kurt Russell's shoes as the eye patch-wearing badass Snake Plissken, but would those fans change their mind at the suggestion of Timothy Olyphant for the role?

Eisner was asked point blank whether or not he was entertaining the idea of casting his Crazies collaborator as Snake. Here's what he had to say:

Creatively, [Olyphant] would be great for it. We have not yet discussed internally within the studio who will play Snake Plissken. There are many factors that go into those discussions. First and foremost, obviously, is the creative one. We can't make the movie unless we get the perfect Snake Plissken, and that's a tall order. There are very few guys that could do it. He would definitely be one of the guys who could. There is no question about that.

In addition to his leading role in The Crazies, Olyphant has played his fair share of badasses such as Agent 47 in Hitman, Sheriff Seth Bullock on Deadwood and, most recently, U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens on FX's Justified. Olyphant isn't exactly a household name, but there's no question that he can pull off a take-no-prisoners attitude while exuding plenty of charm. Maybe, just maybe, Olyphant is the perfect successor to Kurt Russell.

What do you think? Could Olyphant win you over as Snake Plissken?
