The “Marvel vs. Capcom” series is probably one of the most beloved fighting-game franchises in the history of the genre. Ever since the debut of “Marvel vs. Capcom 3" in 2011, fans have been awaiting news of a fourth entry into the series, and if recent rumors are true, we may not have to wait much longer. In about a week, The PlayStation Experience will kick off in Anaheim, California, where fans hope Sony will reveal some crazy surprises during its opening presentation. As is the case with most gaming conventions, details of the presentation are kept secret, but that hasn't prevented some purported teaser images for "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" from surfacing.

Such images as those aren’t typically reliable, as anyone can create teasers. However, GameZone scoured NeoGAF (a forum dedicated to video games) to find some sources that may support their authenticity. The website also found tweets from prominent members of the fighting game community that seemed to confirm the existence of the title.

While there seems to be evidence pointing to a new installment of the franchise, developer Capcom has been quiet on that front. Employees have also denied the game's existence, and they did just release a game earlier this year, so having another one ready would be quite the surprise.

Still, with the company bringing its Capcom Cup to the event, and its penchant for surprising people there, it would be a great time to stoke excitement for a “Marvel vs Capcom 4” tease.
