As far as confirming movie rumors go, Twitter is perhaps not the greatest tool. However, it’s at least somewhat useful for monitoring information — and it just may have provided a clue to the future of the DC Films universe.
As Comic Book Movie recounts, a fan noticed early this month that the U.K. account of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Justice League” photographer Clay Enos had begun following actor/comedian John Cleese. That led to speculation that the “Monty Python” alum may have a role in an upcoming DC movie, which is only further fueled by the discovery that Cleese has since followed director Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck on the social media platform.
It’s entirely possible that Cleese simply met Snyder, Affleck and Enos during a visit to the London set of “Justice League,” and afterward they decided to keep in touch on Twitter. However, it’s also worth noting that news first surfaced of Joe Manganiello’s involvement in Affleck’s Batman movie after the “True Blood” actor began following various DC accounts on Twitter.
While nothing can be confirmed, signs would seem to point toward a role for Cleese in a DC/Warner Bros. film, perhaps in “The Batman” or even as a late addition to “Justice League.”
