IRON MAN
Superhero Hype has a set of new production stills from the Robert Downey Jr.-fueled Marvel movie.
CBR News has an in-depth interview with Downey, discussing the role of Tony Stark.
Downey addressed his troubled past in quotes at Sci Fi Wire. "I think when someone has had a fundamental change, and they're not just trying to backpedal and make it seem like, 'I'm going to rehab again, everything's fine,' whateve, ... my thing is, what else is attractive [to me about the role] is, yeah, Tony Stark, he's been known to go bonkers and be so irresponsible that he's, like, too hammered to put on his shoes," Downey said. "And [when they approached me,] I was like, 'Really?' And they were like, 'Yeah, really.'"
THE DARK KNIGHT
Like we always do at this time, things go from one billionaire vigilante to the next. We missed some viral sites yesterday, including St. Swithuns Catholic Church in Gotham City, while Superhero Hype has an update on a viral site that leads to a call from Jim Gordon.
Meanwhile, why would the Joker send a bowling bag all the way to Sao Paolo, when there's perfectly good websites here in the US? Find out what happens when you find the Clown Prince of Crime's cell phone (complete with photos).
G.I. JOE
We got an email from Jesse Spero noting a new article about actor Dennis Quaid talking about General Hawk. "He's bad@$$!" Quaid said. "He's sort of a cross between General Patton and Hugh Hefner. It's like doing one of the early James Bond [movies,] like 'Dr. No,' where the evil guy has his own fortress up in a mountain some place, and it gets blown up at the end. It's a lot of action, total action." There's video too.
KING DOUG
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ben Stiller is attached to produce and possibly star in an adaptation of an upcoming Oni Press graphic novel whose film rights were picked up by DreamWorks. Written by Greg Erb and Jason Oremland, "King" centers on a man who must return to the fantasy world which he abandoned 30 years earlier. Erb and Oremland will also write the screenplay. Stiller, Stuart Cornfeld and Jeremy Kramer will produce through their DreamWorks-based Red Hour Productions. Eric Gitter, one of the partners at Oni, will also produce through his Closed on Mondays Entertainment, the company which acts as Oni's production arm. Peter Schwerin is executive producing.
TEEN TITANS
So say we all -- "Battlestar Galactica" executive producer Mark Verheiden told ComicMix a little bit about the once-troubled adaptation. "I'm back full into writing the 'Teen Titans' movie," Verheiden said. "I turned in a pass to Warner Bros. right before the strike and we've talked about that and I'm going to get back into it. I'll address some of their thoughts and work on the next draft."
SPEED RACER
You can see a new behind-the-scenes clip from the fast-paced flick at a new promotional website from Esurance.
LAST BLOOD
According to Variety, Benderspink is adapting the Bobby Crosby's comic book centered on a band of vampires protecting the Earth's last human survivors of a zombie apocalypse.
SURROGATESMoviehole has a new rumor that "Spawn" actor Michael Jai White is joining Bruce Willis in the graphic novel adaptation.
JUSTICE LEAGUE
Director George Miller told Variety about how upset he was about the struggle to get tax assistance from the Australian government. Miller said, "We don't know officially that we've been knocked back, but it's not looking good. It's taken too long to make a decision, and the film's going overseas now, which is incredibly wasteful for the Australian film industry. That shows how rigid the thinking is here in Australia; that's working to a paradigm that's 30 years old and brought down the Australian film industry."
SCOTT PILGRIM
Former "Arrested Development" star Michael Cera spoke with Empire Online that he's excited to be on board with the project. "I love the graphic novels, they're amazing," Cera said. "The first time I met Edgar, we hung out in Toronto [Cera's home town and the setting for Pilgrim] with Bryan Lee O'Malley [the series' creator, also from Toronto], and he showed me pages from the fourth book that hadn't come out yet. It was awesome!"
NIM'S ISLAND
