"Iron Man 3" writer/director Shane Black will reportedly adapt Terry Harknett's Edge novels for Amazon Studios.

According to Deadline, "Edge" is one of four new projects given pilot orders, although the streaming service has yet to make an official announcement.

Written by the prolific Harknett under the pseudonym George G. Gilman, the violent, spaghetti Western-inspired novels follow Edge, a psychopathic Civil War veteran on a quest for revenge. Harknett released 61 Edge novels, between 1972 and 1989, giving black plenty of material from which to draw.

Black, who made his directorial debut in 2005 with "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," has a list of writing credits that includes "Lethal Weapon," "Lethal Weapon 2," "The Monster Squad" and "The Long Kiss Goodnight."
