Warner Bros. has greenlit a remake of the classic horror film Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The film will be produced by John Davis and penned by Dungeons and Dragons and The Conjuring 2 writer David Leslie Johnson. This will be the fifth time Jack Finney’s novel The Body Snatchers has been developed into a motion picture.

The best known cinematic version of the story is likely the 1978 film, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, starring Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Veronica Cartwright, Jeff Goldblum and Leonard Nimoy. The film depicts the slow transformation of San Francisco as a race of aliens create emotionless doppelgangers bent on forcing the human population to conform or die. That film was a remake of a 1956 noir film by the same name.

Two more adaptations of the novel were penned in 1993 and 2007; Body Snatchers and The Invasion, respectively. The latter film starred Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman, but neither movie was a financial success at the box office.

John Davis is best known for producing movies and television shows like The Predator, Game Night and The Blacklist. Johnson has penned films like Wrath of The Titans, Red Riding Hood, Conjuring 3 and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
