As any comic book fan or owner of a knows, sometimes big things come in small packages.

Today, Marvel Comics debuted a Terry Dodson-designed character card for Kid Kaiju, a key figure in the upcoming "Monsters Unleashed" special.

Kei Kawade, aka Kid Kaiju debuted in "Totally Awesome Hulk" #3 as a a normal, everyday 11 year-old who loves two things: drawing and monsters. So what does the 4'4", 80 pound kid's abilities entail? Well, as we saw in his Hulk appearance, Kaiju's drawings can come to life and become city-stomping behemoths.

Monsters Unleashed Rampages Through More Marvel Tie-Ins

In the case of "Totally Awesome Hulk," it was Fin Fang Foom - the awesomely named, awesomely-sized green dragon who's been a then in Iron Man's side for decades. However, Monsters Unleashed writer Cullen Bunn told Marvel News that there will be more to Kaiju's power."Once Kei’s abilities are discovered, the heroes of the Marvel Universe scramble to better understand these fantastic [powers]. What are the limits? Can Kei summon heroes as easily as he summons monsters? Can he banish monsters as easily as he summons them? What happens if he draws Fin Fang Foom as a dead creature? A new power set has now appeared, and figuring out its intricacies will be a key to solving the crisis the world is facing."

Bunn also teased that Kid Kaiju's powers may have "deeper roots" than simply bring to life cool monsters. "He’s only 11 years old, but he has a connection to an interstellar force of destruction that has destroyed countless planets." In a massive, universe- colliding crossover Marvel series, it's safe to say that that kind of power's going to come into significant play. The question of Kid Kaiju's powers will also affect the character's arc. "His abilities both terrify and excite him," Bunn added.

This also raises the question if it's perhaps Kid Kaiju on the cover of "Monsters Unleashed" #3.

The  kid's silhouette at the center of the fray was speculated to be Austin Monster- who also had a brief appearance in "Totally Awesome Hulk", but given Kid Kaiju's revealed importance to the series, the debate will rage on until "Monsters Unleashed" release January 18.

Featuring every giant monster that's ever appeared in Marvel's decades- long history against the Avengers, Champions, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men AND the Inhumans, the special 5 issue series is shaping up to be one of collosal imagination. "Monsters Unleashed" will also feature an all star team of artists including Adam Kubert, Steve McNiven, Leinil Yu, Salvador Larroca and Greg Land.
