UPDATE 1/15/2013 11:42 AM PT: Warner Bros. has sent a correction to its original announcement, stating the "Injustice: Gods Among Us" Battle Edition will only be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, not the Nintendo Wii U.

The wait for NetherRealm Studios' "Injustice: Gods Among Us" DC Universe fighting game will come to a close this spring, as Warner Bros. Interactive has announced a hard release date of April 16 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U.

Announced last year, "Injustice: Gods Among Us" has had a slow burn of reveals, most recently adding Bane and Lex Luthor to its growing cast. Other roster members include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Arrow, Joker, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Nightwing and more.

WB Interactive revealed the Collector's Edition of the game last year for $99.99, which includes a statue of Batman and Wonder Woman, a special collector's edition of the tie-in comic, a digital download of "Justice League Doom" and three New 52 skins for Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Alongside the release date, the publisher also revealed the game's Battle Edition, which includes the game, the three exclusive New 52 skins, and an official "Injustice: Gods Among Us" arcade fight stick.

The press release also revealed the new "Injustice: Gods Among Us" digital first comic from DC Comics is available today from the publisher's digital storefront. Check back with CBR later today for an interview with "Injustice: Gods Among Us" comic writer Tom Taylor.
