Mortal Kombat invades the DC Comics-based world of Injustice 2, as perennial fan-favorite fighter Sub-Zero arrives in Gotham City. The character will debut via a July-releasing DLC offering; the first DLC Fighter Package, featuring the popular Jason Todd/Red Hood character, arrived just a few days ago. In the announce video, we see Sub-Zero first interact with Batman, before transitioning to gameplay footage of him taking down the Dark Knight, Wonder Woman and Superman.

While this is Sub-Zero's full Injustice Universe debut (he had a brief cameo in the original game), it's not the first time gamers have been able to pit his frozen martial arts against DC's heroes. In 2008's Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, the ever-popular character was one of the Mortal Kombat fighters fans could choose to do battle with Superman, Batman and the rest of the DCU.

Developed by NetherRealm for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the sequel to the hit 2013 video game Injustice: Gods Among Us continues the storyline, with Batman and his allies work toward putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime. However, in the midst of that chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s existence at risk.

Now available in stores or via digital download, Injustice 2 features such playable characters as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Supergirl, Harley Quinn, Gorilla Grodd and Blue Beetle, with arenas in DC Universe locations like Gotham City, Metropolis and Atlantis.
