The character, presumed to be Jason Todd, is seen using his signature dual handguns against Catwoman (in an alternate costume), who's being shot up while in mid-air. Fans have speculated the image could depict a move similar to NetherRealm Studios' gunslinger, Erron Black, from the Mortal Kombat X video game, in which the character launches opponents into the air before training guns on them with his back to the ground.

NetherRealms Creative Director Ed Boon had been teasing fans since August about character's inclusion in the game. Red Hood fans were then given a double treat when he was announced as part of the game's first three DLC characters (release date still to be announced) alongside Starfire and Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero. The subsequent reveal of the Joker included nods to Todd's comics history, with the Clown Prince of Crime facing off against Damian Wayne, Injustice 2's Robin, and antagonizing him with comments about Todd, whom he killed in a 1988 storyline.

Joker's super-move then showed him torturing Damian in the same fashion he killed Todd -- with a crowbar, electrocution and dynamite. Todd later resurfaced in the comics as Red Hood, with a vendetta against the Bat-Family and the Joker. This storyline is yet to be confirmed in the Injustice 2 canon, but so far, it seems to be heading in this direction.

Injustice 2 is out now from Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm Studios for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, iOS and Android.
