Medusa fends off the advances of Maximus the Mad, with the help of her signature prehensile hair, in a new clip from Marvel's Inhumans.

An expansion of the scene first glimpsed in the trailer for the ABC drama released last month at Comic-Con International, the confrontation not only showcases Medusa's superhuman abilities -- something absent from the initial teaser -- but pulls back the curtain on the tensions within the Inhumans Royal Family.

“It’s amazing,” actress Serinda Swan said of seeing Medusa's hair come to life in the trailer. “Everybody saw the hair last night at the same time I saw the hair [for the first time], so I was sitting there going — I know what happened when it first came out — and now I’m sitting in a room full of people that love her and might attack. I know Marvel, they are incredible. When they do CGI, it blows me away, so I know that it was going to be amazing.”

The eight-episode series centers on the Royal Family of the Inhumans, a race of genetically advanced humans with extraordinary powers introduced in 1965 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in Marvel’s Fantastic Four.

After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.

The first two episode of Inhumans will premiere Sept. 1 in IMAX theaters, followed by their broadcast debut Friday, Sept. 29, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

The drama stars Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Iwan Rheon as Maximus the Mad, Serinda Swan as Queen Medusa, Ken Leung as Karnak, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Mike Moh as Triton and Sonya Balmores as Auran.
