Everyone is excited about the long-awaited Avengers: Infinity War (directed by Joe and Anthony Russo) in which the heroes we've been introduced to over the past decade will finally face Thanos. At the moment, we know next to nothing about what will happen in the upcoming film, only that Thanos will finally get up off his asteroid throne and fight for the Infinity Stones so he can use them in that fancy gauntlet of his to destroy the universe as we know it. That might mean almost nothing to casual fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but for those familiar with the comics, you'll know that epic things are in store for us.

So much has been teased already about the film and we've put together this list of the 15 most exciting morsels surrounding Avengers: Infinity War. These are clips and photos that have been released by cast and crew and we're going to do our best to uncover what they mean so we know more about what to look forward to. Admittedly, it's mostly just guesswork but that's half the fun when it comes to things from behind the scenes. So if you're not already obsessively refreshing Marvel's official pages for updates like a maniac, check out these 15 little bits and pieces below and see if they don't excite you enough to start doing so.

15 THE IRON MEN

Avengers-Infinity-War-Concept-Iron-Man

This bit of concept art showing Tony Stark (played by RDJ, fiddling with his Iron Man suits was shown in February 2017 as part of the official featurette released by Marvel Studios about Avengers: Infinity War going into production. The suits in the image look to be similar if not exactly the same, at least in appearance, though clearly, they differ from any of the other suits we've seen.

We know that Tony Stark is continuously developing his suits and creating more. With Thanos wholly entering the picture now, it's not unlikely that Stark would try and counter Thanos' forces with another Iron Legion, especially in the beginning with the Avengers having been divided since the events of Captain America: Civil War (directed by Joe and Anthony Russo).

14 THANOS

Infinity-War-Concept-Thanos

What about Thanos, the titan who courts death by going up against Earth's mightiest heroes? Another image from that fantastic video from Marvel Studios is this one, depicting Thanos in a far less regal outfit than the one we've been seeing him in throughout the films.

Josh Brolin will be reprising the role as the mad titan, one he's been playing since the 2014 film, Guardians of the Galaxy (directed by James Gunn). According to one interview Brolin did with Good Morning America, his experience with Thanos was an emotional one, meaning that the celestial titan we'll be seeing in Avengers: Infinity War, will be much more than just the formulaic big bad guys the heroes have to defeat at the end of every film.

13 THE BLACK ORDER

Infinity-War-Black-Order-Statues

Recently at the D23 expo, we were given a glimpse at the other villains we'll be seeing in the film. The statues you see are of Thanos' Black Order, from left to right (excluding Thanos in the center): Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf. Comic fans will know that the Black Order are, put simply, Thanos' generals, aiding him in his conquest.

Each one has powers that rival those of Earth's heroes. Corvus Glaive, for example, wields a weapon capable of cutting through atoms and keeping him from death's clutches. Ebony Maw is the most powerful of them, capable of controlling minds, going so far as to take on the Sorcerer Supreme himself. With the inclusion of the Black Order a sure thing, we know that the Avengers are going to have the fight of their lives.

12 STRANGE, IRON MAN AND HULK TEAM UP

Infinity-War-RDJ-Doctor-Strange-Hulk-BTS

This fun little image, tweeted by Robert Downey Jr., shows himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Ruffalo and Benedict Wong evidently on set, enjoying a meal. What can we take away from this other than the fact that the cast seems to be having a lot of fun on set? Clearly, we're going to get a scene where the MCU's greatest minds get together to stop Thanos' forces from annihilating the universe.

Of course, that also raises some questions we're eager to see answered. Does Bruce Banner stand with Tony Stark on the Sokovia Accords? Will they ever even get a chance, however brief, to discuss the argument that effectively tore the Avengers apart? Maybe we'll see that discussed or maybe they'll realize that they have more important things to worry about than politics, which seems pretty minuscule and nonsensical when you consider that they're going to fight a guy who could literally play ball with massive space objects.

11 THOR AND THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Infinity-War-Guardians-Thor-Concept-Art

Of course, we can't talk about team ups and ignore this fantastic concept art which shows Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) fighting alongside Rocket. The weapon Thor is wielding doesn't look to be Mjolnir, which makes sense since, as we can see in the first trailer for the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok (Taika Waititi), Hela destroys it. Obviously, we don't yet know what will happen to Thor in Thor: Ragnarok, only that he will live to fight alongside the Guardians.

We know through Kevin Feige's interview with the Toronto Sun that the final instalment in the Thor trilogy will pave the way for Avengers: Infinity War. If that's so, we can assume that he'll be the one to join the Guardians of the Galaxy with the Avengers. It's an exciting prospect for the character since throughout the films, he's always seemed like the first line of defense against threats like Thanos, what with his visions and role as the defender of the nine realms.

10 GALACTIC ADVENTURES

In an interview with Good Morning America at the Disney D23 Expo, Dave Bautista, who plays Drax the Destroyer, discussed his interactions with one of his acting heroes, Robert Downey Jr. and what it was like to work with him. He also revealed that their two characters, Drax and Iron Man, have great chemistry on screen, which bodes well for those hoping for an epic battle featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy fighting alongside the Avengers.

It shows us that they won't just be battling, they'll be interacting with each other in more meaningful ways. How does Rocket get along with Stark or how will Groot get along with Bruce Banner? These are things we want to see happen in the film and Dave Bautista's interview shows us that it might just be as awesome as we're probably hyping it up to be.

9 NEW IRON THREADS

Spider-Man-Homecoming-Iron-Spider-Suit

More recently, we were shown that Spider-Man (played by Tom Holland) will be donning the new suit he received from Tony Stark at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming (directed by Jon Watts). It wasn't exactly something that has been officially teased since this news (along with a screenshot) reportedly originated from a Reddit poster, /u/gradyj123. How exactly that image came into his possession however, remains unclear.

The leaked image also contains one of Doctor Strange's (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) lines, "Peter, protect them. They're not dead," which could mean a number of things but it may imply that Peter will have a substantial role to play in the upcoming film, one in which he'll prove himself to be just as powerful and great at being a hero as any of the other Avengers.

8 STRANGE COMPANIONS

Spider-Man-Doctor-Strange

We know that Doctor Strange will likely play a large role in the film since he possesses the Eye of Agamotto, which happens to be one of the Infinity Stones Thanos covets. We also know, through Good Morning America's interview with Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch at Disney's D23 Expo, that Spidey and Doctor Strange will be spending quite a bit of time together on screen.

Comic fans in particular will be excited by this since Peter Parker and Stephen Strange have formed a close friendship over the years, one that has been depicted in both comics and in cartoons. It'll be awesome to see how they get along with Peter's wit and talkative nature coupled with Strange's cynical attitude (something he's been working on) and sarcasm.

7 STAN THE MAN

stan lee cameo MCU films

It wouldn't be a proper Marvel film without an appearance by Stan "The Man" Lee. He has had a lot of great cameos throughout the MCU (and then some) so we're definitely looking forward to his appearance in Avengers: Infinity War, who knows what it will bring? It might be just a casual, funny appearance such as his cameos in any of the Iron Man films, or it might introduce something new like his cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 (directed by James Gunn) did with the Watchers. All we know right now, thanks to an Instagram post by Roberty Downey Jr., is that Stan's cameo has been filmed already.

There's no discernible set piece in sight. All we can see is Doctor Strange, Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland, which means Stan Lee's cameo will likely take place during one of those superheroes' scenes together. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for that cameo when the film comes out.

6 THE INFINITY WAR POSTERS

Avengers-Infinity-War-Comic-Con-Artwork

Recently, at San Diego Comic Con, fans were treated to a first look at some Infinity War posters which feature Thanos and his Black Order, Iron Man, Gamora, Nebula, Mantis, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Winter Soldier, War Machine, Hawkeye and Hulk. Of course, this isn't the official film poster we'll be seeing in the future, but it's still an exciting first look at what we will be seeing when the film finally hits theatres.

It's a colorful art piece depicting everything we hope to see on the film: the many heroes we've come to know, caught in Thanos' power, here depicted as a colorful ray of light emanating from his gauntlet. What's more intriguing about this poster is the clearer image we have of Spidey's new suit and the fact that Rhodey is depicted without his War Machine armor. Does that mean anything? Only time will tell.

5 30+ CHARACTERS

Marvel team heroes

In an interview with Stephen Colbert, Scarlett Johannson, who plays Black Widow, revealed that there are some pretty epic scenes in Avengers: Infinity War, at least one of which includes more than 30 known characters. The film as a whole will reportedly include more than 60 in total. That speaks volumes about the sheer scale of it and the kind of climactic scenes we can expect. It's pretty satisfying just to know that, considering that Marvel Studios has been building up to this since 2008.

It also means that Thanos and his forces will be in for one hell of a fight, though of course, it might be just a smidge too much to expect every single one of those characters to be fighting, considering most of them are probably just regular humans. Still, we're more than excited to see what those scenes will look like.

4 DESTRUCTION ALL AROUND

Infinity-War-Film-Set

Obviously, with that many characters and so much at stake, there's bound to be destruction all around. That's what we can see from images of the set in Atlanta taken in June 2017. Doctor Strange, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner and of course, Wong, are also featured in this image as they have in many of the images we've seen released so far. It raises a lot of questions about where and how the other superheroes will turn up.

With a character like Thanos, it's not unlikely that he'll wreak havoc across the world, maybe beyond Earth, which would force the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy to split up. In any case, this is just a glimpse of the destruction we'll see in Avengers: Infinity War.

3 MORE DESTRUCTION

RDJ-Tom-Holland-Chris-Pratt

When production began, that featurette teased us with a short interview featuring Robert Downey Jr., Tom Holland and Chris Pratt. One of the things that excited everyone was the fact that this meant the Guardians of the Galaxy would definitely be meeting the Avengers (or half of them at least). Now that we know a little more about that, we're taking a look back at this to discuss that big rocky set behind the three stars.

We're definitely going to see things that are out of this world. The set around the actors looks to be part of an alien planet, a crash site of some sort which could mean that we'll see Iron Man and Spidey possibly transported to some alien world, or perhaps its Star Lord who brings some of that alien world with him to a barren part of Earth. Whatever it is, we're definitely eager to see what that rocky, debris-filled set is actually for.

2 THE END OF AN ERA

captain-america-civil-war-chris-evans-sebastian-stan-joe-anthony-russo

We know quite a bit already and you've probably heard this a lot recently every time something related to Avengers: Infinity War pops up: the film represents great change coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is what the Russo brothers essentially stated in an interview with Variety.

Anthony Russo stated that these next two Avengers films (Infinity War Part I and II) are "the final chapters of that book" before Joe clarified that there are many ways in which this is the end but  the MCU will continue after these films. A lot of fans speculate that this means some of the superheroes we've come to know and love will die. It's saddening but thrilling to think about which character will go out in a blaze of glory.

1 #RELEASETHETRAILER

Avengers-Infinity-War-Logo

Some of those who were able to attend Disney's D23 Expo and SDCC 2017 were treated to a more exciting little morsel than the rest of us (the jerks). They were given a glimpse of the film's massive cast of superheroes, they were given a few exciting little details by the film's directors and... most importantly... an exclusive trailer for Avengers: Infinity War!!

The word "epic" feels like it was specifically created for that trailer, which has since been leaked online. There are various sources where you can read about what happens but in short: Guardians of the Galaxy meet Thor, they meet the Avengers and the Avengers finally meet Thanos before the titan displays his awesome power by hurling a nearby moon at our heroes using his gauntlet and two Infinity Stones. It does everything a trailer is supposed to do, which is get people hyped up for what looks to be an amazing film!
