Speaking with IGN at Disney's D23 Expo, Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter revealed that The Incredibles 2 "starts right as the first one finishes, so it just carries on."

Joking that only "a minute" will have passed since the ending of 2004's The Incredibles, he explained, "It starts with the Underminer and a big old set piece. You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up and you see the family dressed as superheroes, well that's where start this movie."

For those who have no recollection of what an Underminer is, here's the final minute of The Incredibles to refresh your memory:

In an age that has given us 2 sequels and a spinoff series for Cars, fans have been clamoring for a sequel to The Incredibles since its debut. June 2018 will finally see the return of Brad Bird's masterful superhero tale.

"One of the unique things about The Incredibles is it's really a story of a family set in the world of superheroes. This one carries on that theme," Lasseter said. "It's awesome, the idea we came up with -- simple as that. ... We love to really look at our own lives and look at what's going on, and find themes that we know will resonate with the audience."

The Incredibles 2 will hit theaters June 15, 2018.
