Superhero Hype has a first look at the new poster for the Ed Norton-fueled Marvel movie … even though the New York Times has yet another article noting the troubles the production is having in its development.
Denying conventional wisdom that there is no such thing as Canadia, an article on News.com claims that would-be Wonder Woman Megan Gale has set up shop in the great white north.
GHOST IN THE SHELL
According to Variety, DreamWorks Pictures has acquired rights to the Japanese manga with plans to adapt the futuristic police thriller as a 3-D live-action feature. “‘Ghost in the Shell’ is one of my favorite stories,” said Steven Spielberg. “It’s a genre that has arrived, and we enthusiastically welcome it to DreamWorks.”
BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHTS
Yahoo! Movies has a preview clip from the animated direct-to-DVD feature.
Superhero Hype has photos of the Australian premiere, complete with a 3D standee … and the new Sabretooth? Zany!
We also got an email from a fan who saw the premiere, so if you don’t like SPOILERS you should skip down now …
… last warning …
… seriously …
… okay, here’s the email in its entirety: “Saw it at the Sydney premiere last night, and it’s truly a great comic book action film. Downey Jr is perfect, the CGI is really smooth (apart from the big fight between Iron Monger & Stark…they just can’t seem to make CGI at speed look really good yet). Hopefully the fans aren’t put out, because there’s a lot of humour there, and the fight with Iron Monger isn’t a long one. But it’s a great start to what should be a no-brainer franchise.”
GHOULISHLY YOURS, WILLIAM M. GAINES
A story at Comics2Film notes that EC Comics creator Al Feldstein has signed on as a creative consultant for the Joel Eisenberg/John Landis-led biopic. Feldstein said, “I am truly enthusiastic to be associated with ‘Ghoulishly Yours, William M. Gaines’ as the film’s creative adviser. This film will be about the most exciting editorial and artistic creative period in comic book history, which was then followed by the most devastating, self-destructive and self-castrating period in its history. As E.C.’s major creative force, I am truly hopeful and optimistic that, finally, the whole truth will be told.”
That’s a big “no” on that count — actor Keanu Reeves said as much in an interview with Moviehole. “We got killed by having an R-rating [on the first movie].” Reeves said. “You can watch ‘Lord of the Rings’ and see trolls and stuff getting axed apart, and blood everywhere, and we don’t even have any blood in ‘Constantine.’ We said [to the ratings board] ‘But we don’t even have any blood?’ You know what they come back with? ‘But trolls and dwarves aren’t real, Demons are real — you can’t blow them up.’ But yeah, I’m just bummed about that, because I really enjoyed playing that role.”
DC Direct has a first look at the 1:6 scale figure from the Will Eisner adaptation.
Spoilers abound in the official network description for the May 1st episode “Apocalypse,” thanks to Kryptonsite.
THE DARK KNIGHT
SPOILER WARNING! Consider yourself properly prepared — we got an interesting rumor via email that claims to know about some scenes to be cut in the new movie. The first one — Ledger in a body bag — has been discussed and debunked. The latter? Well, let’s just include what’s been said in the missive: “The second is one where the joker is having a conversation with Batman and says ‘Death should be funnier than a chopped up girl scout.'” Ooh.
