The official website for director Martin Campbell's Green Lantern has launched, revealing the logo for the film and promising a much more expansive online experience in the near future.

Currently, there's little to behold other than the movie's animated logo and some admittedly nifty sound effects; beyond that, it's a bare bones website. With the movie hitting next June, expect the site to turn into a one-stop shop for all things Oa with plenty of photos, videos and other information popping up soon.

Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond, Mark Strong as Sinestro and Angela Bassett as Amanda Waller. The film arrives in theaters on June 17, 2011.

Update: Apparently there's more to see than the film's logo, as io9 has discovered a plot synopsis hidden in the page's source:

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

I suppose we can take that as official confirmation that Parallax is indeed the film's numero uno bad guy.
