Syfy has announced that a television series based on Image Comics' "Five Ghosts" is now in development. "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Divergent" writer Evan Daugherty is attached to adapt the 2013 series by co-creators Frank J. Barbiere and Chris Mooneyham into a pilot for the network.

Set in the 1930s, "Five Ghosts" follows the adventures of treasure hunter Fabian Gray after he becomes possessed by the ghosts of Merlin, Robin Hood, Sherlock Holmes, Musashi and Dracula.

The pilot will be produced by Universal Cable Productions, Black Mask Studios and BenderSpink. Matt Pizzolo and Brett Gurewitz of Black Mask will serve as co-executive producers along with BenderSpink's Chris Bender, Jake Weiner and Jake Wagner.

Black Mask's Pizzolo and "Five Ghost" writer Barbiere have a history, as the comic writer mentioned in the press release. "Matt Pizzolo has been a close friend and sounding board to me for a long while, so I'm thrilled to have Matt and Black Mask on board as producers for Five Ghosts," said Barbiere. "Matt and Black Mask are constant advocates for the material and have helped us every step of the way while bringing Five Ghosts to the small screen."

"Frank and Chris have really crafted something unique here, a non-stop action thrill ride with a smart, sophisticated literary sensibility," said Pizzolo. "It's really a pleasure to get to work with them on expanding the 'Five Ghosts' world."
