Today, IDW announced the expansion of their partnership with comiXology with a host of new apps powered by the digital comics distributor including the main IDW Comics app, Transformers Comics, Star Trek Comics, Doctor Who Comics, G.I. JOE Comics, 30 Days of Night Comics, Templesmith Comics and True Blood Comics. The apps are available on iOS, Android, Web and Kindle Fire and for longtime users of IDW Comics apps, all previous purchases will sync with the new comiXology platforms. The publisher's titles hit the comiXology platform in October, moving from their previous exclusive home at iVerse -- and with its new big push to comiXology's digital frontier, IDW will be releasing all its titles on a same-day-as-print schedule, a first for the company, with all new digital titles at cover price.

"IDW has always been dedicated to making our comics and graphic novels as accessible as possible on as many platforms as possible, and this deeper IDW-comiXology relationship continues that commitment," said IDW CEO and PublisherTed Adams. "We are strong believers that digital comics expand the reach of these books and consistently bring new readers into the industry."

IDW's transition to same-day-as-print digital follows suit for many other publishers including DC, Marvel and most recently, Dark Horse Comics, whose announcement came under fire from retailers when the publisher's initial press release was unclear about its digital pricing structure. According to the press release, IDW's addition to the comiXology library last month pushed the threshold of same-day-digital comics over 50%, a milestone statistic for digital comics.
