Forget London, forget Asgard. For his next thrill ride, Idris Elba is headed to Paris.

The Luther and Thor: The Dark World actor has been cast in a lead role in Bastille Day, a modern-day thriller from Vendome Pictures and Anonymous Content, with a script written by Andrew Baldwin. There's no director attached.

Bastille Day centers on a United States operative tasked with interrogating and disappearing a young American boy who appears to be the prime suspect in a terrorist attack on the Paris metro. But as the devastating strikes continue, the operative comes to realize that the boy is innocent, and could well be the only person who can lead to the real culprits behind the attacks.

Variety doesn't note which character Elba is playing, but it feels safe to assume that he's in the operative role. Sounds like yet another fun ride for fans of the former Stringer Bell.
