According to Variety, DreamWorks Animation has pushed the release of its threequel to the lucrative franchise to March 1, 2019, a year later than originally expected. It will now come out one week ahead of the Brie Larson-led Marvel Studios film, "Captain Marvel." If the film were to open on its original date, it would've faced off against the Han Solo "Star Wars" anthology film a week later.

"How to Train Your Dragon 3" will be directed by Dean DeBlois, who also helmed the first two films in the series.

Additionally, DreamWorks has set a release date for "Everest": September 27, 2019. The film follows "a group of misfits who undertake an epic journey to reunite a magical creature with his family atop the world’s tallest mountain."

DreamWorks' anouncements follow the recent acquisition of the company by Comcast -- the parent company of NBCUniversal -- for $3.8 billion.
