Probably the first thing dedicated "Star Wars" fans will want to do after seeing "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be to re-watch the original 1977 movie, aka "A New Hope," possibly before settling in for the subsequent chapters of the saga. But what about after that?

Well, the folks at How it Should Have Ended (HISHE) have just given their take on "A New Hope" a George Lucas-esque Special Edition treatment, refreshing the animation so it's closer in style to more recent HISHE shorts, and it's well worth a look.

It's great fun to see R2-D2 taking out scores of Storm Troopers, but what will probably please fans most is witnessing what might have happened if only the Imperials had been a little more competent. It's probably not a spoiler to say things wouldn't have gone so well for the Rebels.

Of course, all of this does raise the question of when we might see an episode of HISHE focusing on "Rogue One." Creating the animation might be time-consuming, but if the film continues to perform as well as its Friday box-office figures suggest, there will definitely be a demand for it.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is in theaters now.
