High on Life is a new sci-fi game taking the world by storm. With plenty of comedy tied into the action elements, this game is a charming adventure for all video game lovers. But what players might not know is that High on Life brings the obscure 1994 flick Tammy and the T-Rex back to the surface.

High on Life follows the first-person journey of a recent high school graduate. This person has little to look forward to. Luckily for them, this changes when a group of aliens invades Earth. These creatures want to use humans as a drug and get high off of them. So, this human teams with a bunch of talking guns and becomes an epic intergalactic bounty hunter. Basically, the game's goal is to save the planet from an army of aliens. However, there's a small but significant Easter egg for movie buffs to enjoy in between galactic battles.

What Is Tammy and the T-Rex About?

Tammy rides an animatronic dinosaur in Tammy and the T-Rex

Tammy and the T-Rex is an obscure mid-'90s cult classic horror movie. The film stars Denise Richards as Tammy, a high school student who deeply loves her boyfriend, Michael. Unfortunately for the teens, Michael is murdered and ends up being the subject of a bizarre experiment at the hands of a classic mad scientist. The experiment results in Michael’s brain being taken out of his skull and transplanted into a robotic T-Rex. Everyone is taken for a ride when the once-human teenager escapes the laboratory to wreak havoc on his high school. He specifically takes revenge on those who once bullied him and hopes to be finally reunited with his beloved Tammy.

Despite featuring big names like Denise Richards and the late, great Paul Walker as Michael, Tammy and the T-Rex is not a well-known film. Having been released in late 1994 and earning a mere 43 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, it's likely that many people haven't even heard of this cult favorite. Luckily for fans of Tammy and the T-Rex, it's endured throughout the years. After the film got a cinematic re-release in 2019, it's possible that a certain video game creator got inspired.

Why High on Life Players Should Watch Tammy and the T-Rex

Along with a few notable technical glitches within the game, players have noticed an interesting detail in High on Life. In the living room, there's a flat-screen TV and couch to interact with. Upon further inspection, it's clear that there's a movie playing on the screen. This movie is, of course, Tammy and the T-Rex. It's not just a clip, either. The full movie is available to watch freely within the game.

This movie is the perfect pairing for High on Life for many reasons. Both Tammy and the T-Rex and High on Life are sci-fi, action-adventure, and comedy at their cores. It could even be argued that obscurity is the same for both the video game and the movie. A race of aliens getting high off of humans is definitely as weird as a human becoming a T-Rex. Currently, it seems that there are no achievements attached to watching the whole movie, but all High on Life players should consider taking a break from hunting aliens and enjoying the flick. Just don't mind the frequently-talking aliens, the sentient weapons, or commercial breaks while sitting comfortably in front of Tammy and the T-Rex.
