Emma Stone is to be offered the role of Mary Jane Watson in the new Spider-Man movie, directed by Marc Webb. The proper response to this is, "That's a great choice, and much better than Kirsten Dunst," in case you're wondering.

The news broke late Friday via Deadline Hollywood, updating its story about Glee's Dianna Agron being close to being offered the role of Gwen Stacy in the franchise reboot. As if she isn't already known to genre fans through the success of Glee, Agron will star in DJ Caruso's "It's Twilight with aliens" movie I Am Number Four next summer; Stone, of course, is already known through roles in Zombieland and the surprise hit Easy A. In other words: Face it, tigers. We just hit the jackpot.

The new Spider-Man is due for summer 2012 release.
