Disney's marketing for its remake of "Pete's Dragon" has offered only fleeting glimpses of its enormous title character. However, now Entertainment Weekly has unleashed a good look at Elliott in all his furry green glory.

He's like an enormous, huggable dog, with wings.

The reimagining of the 1977 Disney classic centers on the discovery by forest ranger Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard) of Pete (Oakes Fegley), a mysterious 10-year-old boy with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods of the Pacific Northwest with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. From that description, the creature sounds remarkably similar to the one in the stories Grace's father (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with for years. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.

Directed and co-written by David Lowery (“Ain’t Them Bodies Saints”), “Pete’s Dragon” also stars Karl Urban. The film opens Aug. 12.
