Henry Cavill will star in the action-thriller Stratton, the first film from Prometheus Productions, the new company the actor formed with his brother Charlie Cavill and producer Rex Glensy.

"Having the opportunity to expand my horizons into filmmaking is incredibly exciting," Deadline quotes the Batman v Superman star as saying. "Getting to work so closely with my brother in this venture is equally so."

Based on the series of novels by Duncan Falconer, Stratton follows Special Boat Service commando John Stratton as he works with the Intelligence Detachment in Northern Ireland and goes on missions that take him to Kazakhstan, China, mainland Europe and London. The first novel starring Stratton, titled The Hostage, was released in 2003.

Filming is set to being in the spring in Southern Italy, Rome and London. Promethean will produce along with Amber Entertainment and GFM Films.
