An updated listing on My Entertainment World, a website that tracks movie and television productions, includes a mid-September start date for principal photography, and well filming locations and a bare-bones synopsis.

Directed by Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones, Dog Soldiers), Hellboy scheduled to film Bulgaria and the United Kingdom, which backs up an earlier report that the production will spend time in the United Kingdom. Here's the early synopsis:

The film is about Hellboy going to England, where he must defeat Nimue, Merlin’s consort and the Blood Queen. But their battle will bring about the end of the world, a fate he desperately tries to turn away.

The update arrives a week actor Ed Skrein, who had been tapped as Asian-American character Ben Daimio, left the film amid whitewashing criticisms to allow for more accurate casting. The producers have promised they’ll be more “consistent” in their search for his replacement.

Targeted for release in 2018, Hellboy stars David Harbour as Hellboy, Ian McShane as Trevor Bruttenholm, Milla Jovovich as the Blood Queen, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan and Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida.
