The upcoming Hellboy reboot movie starring David Harbour and Ian McShane has long been running under the working title Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen. That is no longer the case. Instead, when it releases, the film will simply be titled Hellboy.

The news comes courtesy of a report from IGN, but does not clarify if the Blood Queen in the film's former title will still play a significant role in the finished product. The Blood Queen in question likely refers to the Queen of Blood who first appeared in Hellboy: The Wild Hunt #2.

The Queen of Blood, otherwise known as Nimue, was one of the greatest British witches ever to live. She eventually went mad and imprisoned Merlin (of King Arthur fame) in a grave for all eternity before being dispatched by her own coven. Nimue is revived years later and goes on a long, murderous quest before being dispatched again, this time by Hellboy.

Debuting in theaters in 2018, Hellboy will be directed by Neil Marshall and star David Harbour as Hellboy and Ian McShane as Trevor Bruttenholm, Hellboy's adoptive father and a prominent member of the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense.
