After the well-publicized whitewashing controversy that erupted from Ed Skrein's casting in Hellboy, it seems as if Daniel Dae Kim will take on the role of Benjamin Daimio. Kim recently made news after he left his role on Hawaii Five-O when it came to light that he was receiving less pay than other members of the show's cast.

Reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is in talks with Lionsgate and Millennium to join the Hellboy reboot that stars David Harbour as the titular character. Daimio is a rugged military member who's part of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. He can turn into a jaguar when angered and is Japanese-American in the Hellboy comics.

Daimio was originally going to be played by Deadpool actor Skrein, until he stepped down in an effort to address Hollywood's trend of casting white actors for characters that were of different race in the source material. Hellboy producers promised more "consistent" casting of this role.
