After a few posters for the upcoming Hellboy reboot were released earlier today, the second trailer for Hellboy has finally been released, just over a month before the film's debut.

Starring Stranger Things star David Harbour as the Mike Mignola-created hero, this Neil Marshall-directed film looks to offer a bloody and violent, distinctly R-rated take on Hellboy, as this new red band trailer shows.

In the Lionsgate and Millennium Entertainment film, David Harbour's Hellboy and his allies on the B.P.R.D. will take on Milla Jovovich's Nimue, the ancient Blood Queen who wants to destroy the world. Although initial reports indicated that this take on Hellboy would be darker than director Guillermo Del Toro's two fan-favorite Hellboy movies, the initial trailer for this film had a peppy, almost Deadpool-esque tone.

In sharp contrast to that, this new trailer highlights the film's brutal violence and monster-filled action. The trailer is filled with epic shots of Hellboy slicing his way through various monsters and includes the memorable image of Hellboy riding a fiery dragon over a river of lava while holding a flaming sword.

After offering a brief recap of Hellboy's origin, the trailer establishes the film's potentially world-ending stakes and shows Nimue and her various monsters tearing their way through London, destroying landmarks like London Bridge along the way.

The trailer also offers several glimpses of Hellboy's allies from the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, including Ian McShane's Trevor Bruttenholm, Hellboy's human father figure. After a few glimpses of Sasha Lane's magic-wielding Alice Monaghan, the trailer also offers a good look at Daniel Dae Kim's Daimo as he transforms into his were-jaguar form.

However, this trailer still doesn't offer any hints of Thomas Hayden Church's vigilante Lobster Johnson.

The film will reportedly incorporate elements of the classic Hellboy stories Hellboy: The Wild Hunt, Hellboy: Darkness Calls and Hellboy: The Storm and Fury, and the trailer included a few scenes that looked like they had been ripped straight from those Dark Horse Comics tales.

Arriving on April 12, director Neil Marshall’s Hellboy stars David Harbour as Hellboy, Ian McShane as Trevor Bruttenholm, Milla Jovovich as Nimue, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida, Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio and Thomas Hayden Church as Lobster Johnson.
