Countingdown.com took a peek at this month’s Maxim, and found a nice piece on “Hellboy.” Included therein is Jeffrey Tambor (“The Larry Sanders Show,” “Arrested Development”) talked about his character Dr. Tom Manning, saying “He’s on the administrative side, And he gets in a little over his head. He’s very anti-everything paranormal, but he goes through a bit of a journey in the film and ends up somewhat changed…I had no idea who Hellboy was, but every time I mentioned it to someone, they had heard about it and were looking forward to it.” Plus, the teaser poster has turned up on eBay, according to Superherohype.
Countindown.com loves the newsstand — they also checked out an issue of Wizard with a David Goyer interview. Goyer is the screenwriter for the Christopher Nolan-directed Batman flick, “Intimidation Game.” Goyer said, “I have never been happy with any of the ‘Batman’ movies. They got some things right, but I was always disappointed, and I don’t think that there’s been anything even close to a definitive ‘Batman’ film. What was interesting for me, working on [‘Batman’], is that on one hand, I was in the trenches working and on the other hand, I was this kid going, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe that they’re letting us do this because it’s everything that I ever wanted to see in a big, sweeping, epic superhero movie.'” When asked about Christian Bale, Goyer replied, “Bale is an excellent choice…I think the fans should be doing cartwheels. Face it, the guy was born to play Bruce/Batman.” In other Bat-news, wrestler Edge denied rumors that he’d been cast to play Egghead when he spoke to fans via the WWE’s webcast, Byte This. “I have been hearing that rumor too, but since I haven’t been contacted I am guessing that it isn’t true,” said the long haired grappler.
There’s a new episode of the animated series scheduled to air tomorrow night, November 11 at 8:05 PM EST, according to Comics Continuum. The network blurb about the episode says, “Cyborg has just finished building the vehicle of his dreams: the super-cool, super-fast, ultra-high-tech T-Car. But before Cyborg can take it out for a spin, the Titans are called to an electronics superstore where Overload, an electrical menace, is wreaking havoc. But after the Titans capture Overload, Cyborg freaks because the T-Car is gone. A wild adventure unfolds as the T-Car changes hands from bad guy to worse guy.”
Peter David posted on his official site that he turned in the manuscript for the sequel’s novelization last Monday. Talking about the project, David said, “Got delayed by last minute script changes. However, unlike previous occasions on other novelizations where 11th Hour alterations came in, these were all improvements. Several lengthy and frankly painful speeches went away, and the climactic Spidey/Doc Ock face-off plays far more smoothly. So although they took time to do, it’s the sort of changes I really don’t mind making.”
JESSICA SIMSPON MAKES HERS MARVEL
Everybody’s favorite ditzy newlywed Jessica Simpson told MTV “There’s also a Marvel Comics [character] that I’m kind of signed up for, I can’t really talk about it because it’s one of those legal things, but, yeah, I foresee big movies in the future.” Marvel had nothing to say when MTV asked for a comment, so perhaps one of you has some inside info …
Scary Movie 3′ writer Craig Mazan will adapt “Opus” from Berkeley Breathed’s Pulitzer Prize-winning comic strip “Bloom County,” as well as agreeing to write “Scary Movie 4” according to Variety.
