"Rat Queens" launched in 2013 to high critical acclaim, telling a comedy-fantasy story that takes modern language and fashion and throws it into a fantasy world. Focusing on the titular Rat Queens adventuring group -- elven mage Hannah, dwarven warrior Violet, human cleric Dee and halfling thief Betty -- the series follows their exploits through a sword-and-sorcery world. (The first arc was appropriately titled "Sass and Sorcery.") "Rat Queens" is nominated for Best New Series at this year's Eisner Awards.

"This is an action/comedy series about monster killing and partying in a fantasy world. So, we're taking a lot of fantasy tropes and having fun with them by taking modern culture and blending it together," Wiebe told CBR before the series' debut. "You're going to get wizards, dragons, elves and orcs in spades but with a healthy dose of blood and black humor."

Wiebe's other Image series, "Peter Panzerfaust" is also getting the live-action television treatment courtesy of the BBC.
