After Agent Carter quietly ended its second season last year with series-low ratings, ABC announced the Marvel drama wouldn't return for a third. The cancellation of the fan-favorite series came as a surprise to many, including Marvel Television.

As is so often the case nowadays, petitions from Agent Carter's cult following pleaded with Marvel to bring back Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter, whether through a film or a series renewal, but nothing ever came of the lobbying effort. However, new photos from Marvel Studios Co-President Louis D'Esposito are stirring renewed hopes among the Agent Carter faithful.

Atwell has demonstrated that she's still invested in Peggy Carter, even lending her voice to the character for the animated Marvel's Avengers: Secret Wars.

D'Esposito directed Atwell in the 2013 Marvel One-Shot Agent Carter that served as the springboard for the ABC drama, so it's possible the actress merely stopped by the Marvel Studios offices to visit a friend. However, some have already begun to speculate that Atwell could have a role in the 1990s-set Captain Marvel, alongside Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson.

We also can't discount comments made in June by Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland suggesting that the studio is looking to bring back Marvel One-Shots, the series of direct-to-video short films included from 2011 to 2014 as special features on Blu-ray releases.
