Hasbro, Netflix Team Up to Stream Transformers, G.I. Joe and More

Hasbro might be better known these days for big-screen adaptations of its toy properties, but back in the ’80s, the company was all about television cartoons. The toymaker had several animated series airing at the same time, including classics like G.I. Joe, Transformers G1 and Jem. Those shows have been available on DVD for a while now, but now Hasbro has announced it’s struck a deal with Netflix to stream many of its TV shows from yesterday and today.

Netflix users can currently watch the far more recent G.I. Joe: Renegades, Transformers Prime and The Adventures of Chuck & Friends, as well as classics like Pound Puppies and My Little Pony. Fans of ’80s cartoons will be pleased to hear that G.I. Joe: Real American Hero, Transformers and Jem and the Holograms will be made available by the end of the year along, with Transformers: Beast Wars and Transformers: Rescue Bots.

“We are pleased that consumers will now be able to watch our award-winning programming on Netflix, the leading internet subscription service,” Hasbro Studios President Stephen Davis said in a statement. “We are making our content easy to access, anytime, anywhere and on all platforms where audiences are consuming content and this is a big step forward with our all screen strategy.”
