Harley and Ivy shippers got the ultimate gift last Friday during a Twitter Q&A session with "Harley Quinn" co-writers Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti. While tweeting from the official DC Comics Twitter account, the creators confirmed that Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are -- as many fans have long assumed -- girlfriends with a capital 'G.'

Yes, they are Girlfriends without the jealousy of monogamy. @jpalmiotti @AmandaRantsAlot #HarleyQuinnChat https://t.co/n86jApADCi- DC Comics (@DCComics) June 12, 2015

And all the Harley and Ivy shippers were like:

While it's possible that Conner meant "girlfriends" in the platonic sense of the word, the "jealousy of monogamy" part of her answer indicates that she's referring to the romantic usage. The answer was also in reply to a fan specifically asking for the writers to confirm Harley and Ivy's relationship. It must be pointed out, however, that just prior to giving the above response, Conner used the "best friends" language that shippers have heard repeatedly since their first team-up back in 1993's "Harley and Ivy" episode of "Batman: The Animated Series."

We love that they are the best friends ever. Ivy is Harleys rock. @AmandaRantsAlot #HarleyQuinnChat https://t.co/38Oc8SJJsa- DC Comics (@DCComics) June 12, 2015

But later in the chat, Palmiotti tweeted this response when asked if the Harley/Ivy romance would continue to be "swept under the rug."

When Harley falls in love, she falls in love hard and loyally no matter who they are. @jpalmiotti #HarleyQuinnChat https://t.co/c2NF6qJ5xf- DC Comics (@DCComics) June 12, 2015

Kotaku's coverage of this Q&A session states that representatives from DC replied with "no comment" when asked about these revelations.
