Warner Bros. didn't look very far when it came to finding a director for "Gotham City Sirens," their all-female DC villains film featuring Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Suicide Squad's" David Ayer will reunite with Margot Robbie for the film.
Announced in May, the feature has been characterized not as a Harley Quinn solo outing or a sequel to “Suicide Squad” sequel, but rather an ensemble film that will feature several of DC Comics’ female heroes and villains. Batgirl and the Birds of Prey have been mentioned, but nothing has been confirmed. THR's report indicates that the title will be "Gotham City Sirens," which is also a DC Comics series by Paul Dini and Guillem March.

Dini and March's "Gotham City Sirens" featured characters like Catwoman and Poison Ivy, but no other character but Harley Quinn has been officially announced for the film. However, the name suggests that the film may borrow from Batman's female rogues gallery of characters.
Margot Robbie is set not only to reprise her “Suicide Squad” role as Harley Quinn but also executive produce through her first-look deal with Warner Bros. She reportedly pitched the idea for the film to the studio. Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who is working on scripts for the "Tomb Raider" remake as well as "Sherlock Holmes 3," has been tapped to write the script.

Although “Suicide Squad” received largely negative reviews, the David Ayer film surpassed the first "Iron Man" film at the global box office with a total of $318m. What’s more, Robbie emerged as its breakout star following roles in “About Time,” “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” and “The Legend of Tarzan.”
"Gotham City Sirens" does not yet have a release date, but the report indicates that it has been fast-tracked.
