Hans Zimmer to Score Man of Steel

by  in Comic News, Movie News Comment

Crossovers are nothing new in comics and have even gotten a legitimate foothold in film thanks to Marvel’s The Avengers. Now Warner Bros. will be doing a little crossing over of its own, with Heat Vision reporting that composer Hans Zimmer will move from Gotham City to Metropolis to score director Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.

Zimmer co-composed the scores for Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and handled the music for Inception and The Dark Knight Rises on his own. Nolan, of course, is also producing Man of Steel. As Heat Vision points out, Snyder has worked with composer Tyler Bates exclusively up until this point. And while it may seem like the Superman reboot is being tailored to fit into the dark-and-gritty world of the Batman trilogy, it’s worth pointing out that Zimmer is a versatile composer with projects like Madagascar 3, Sherlock Holmes and Rango among his credits.

Written by David S. Goyer from a story by Goyer and Nolan, Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Antje Traue as Faora, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick and Christopher Meloni as Col. Hardy. The film opens June 14, 2013.
