It turns out that Jack White won’t be composing The Lone Ranger after all. The former White Stripes member was poised to make his debut as a cinematic composer after contributing music to films like Quantum of Solace and The Green Hornet, but scheduling conflicts caused those plans to be canceled.
Indiewire reports Hans Zimmer will now take his place. That makes sense, considering Zimmer famously scored director Gore Verbinski’s Pirates of the Caribbean films, as well as Rango and The Weather Man. Although it is disappointing that White won’t be involved, Zimmer is definitely a suitably exciting replacement as composer.
A new trailer for The Lone Ranger debuted last week and showed off the gorgeous look of Verbinski’s Western. The film has been delayed numerous times due to budget cuts and an extended shooting schedule, but The Lone Ranger seems worth the wait.
The Lone Ranger stars Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Helena Bonham Carter, William Fichtner, Tom Wilkinson, Ruth Wilson and James Badge Dale. The film opens on July 3, 2013.
