Michael K. Williams ("The Wire") is reportedly in "final talks" to join the untitled Han Solo Star Wars anthology film.

According to Variety, details regarding who Williams would be playing are unknown at the moment, though Variety notes that it's a "key role" in its headline.

The actor is best known for his role as Omar Little on HBO's "The Wire" which ran from 2002 to 2008. Williams recently concluded a stint on HBO's "The Night Of" along with the ABC miniseries "When We Rise."

If Williams signs on for the project, he would join the recent casting of British actor and playwright Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who will play a “key CGI role,” similar to that of Alan Tudyk’s K-2SO in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” The cast also includes Donald Glover (“Atlanta”), Woody Harrelson (“War for the Planet of the Apes”), Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”), and of course, Alden Ehrenreich (“Hail, Caesar!”), who will portray the young Han Solo. Thandie Newton ("Westworld") is also in talks for an unspecified role.

Production on the “Han Solo” movie, the first Star Wars anthology film to focus on a specific well-established character from the franchise, began in January, with Kathleen Kennedy and Allison Shearer serving as producers on the project.

Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller from a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan and starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson, the still-untitled Han Solo “Star Wars” anthology film is scheduled to hit theaters in May 25, 2018.
