Alcon Entertainment has tapped Canadian actress Mackenzie Davis ("The Martian," "Halt and Catch Fire") to star in the "Blade Runner" sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Davis' role hasn't been disclosed, but she'll be joining Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Carla Juri and Robin Wright for the film.

Not much has been revealed story-wise about the "Blade Runner" sequel, except that it'll be set "several decades" after the end of the 1982 original, which took place in a dystopian 2019 Los Angeles.

"Sicario's" Denis Villeneuve is directing the "Blade Runner" sequel, from a script by Michael Green and "Blade Runner" co-writer Hampton Fancher. The director of the original sci-fi classic, Ridley Scott, will executive produce the film.

Production on the "Blade Runner" sequel begins in July, for an October 6, 2017 release.
