It's quite a feat that the Guardians of the Galaxy have made it to the big screen, considering its origins as a smaller Marvel Comics property, when compared to major characters like Iron Man and Captain America. Since everybody's favorite A-holes were able to make the transition to the MCU, that begs the question: Why hasn't Nova made his big screen debut? Well, "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn has indicated that the fan-favorite character's appearance on the silver screen might not be far off.

"You know, I think Nova is a great character. He may definitely show up at some point in the future," Gunn said in an interview with Super Interessante (via ComicBook.com). The helmer went on to confirm that the character won't be appearing in his "Guardians" sequel, saying, "It will not be in Guardians 2, but at some point."

Gunn previously confirmed the character wouldn't be in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," noting, "I don’t want Nova right now because I think Quill being the only earthling is important. That serves the entire movie going audience and not just the handful of Nova fans… I have nothing against Nova in future movies, but it doesn’t serve the movie right this moment."
