While die hard fans have held out hope for some time now, many have given up on the possibility of "Hellboy III." Prospects for a third film in the cult film franchise were so dismal that even star Ron Perlman and comic series creator Mike Mignola all but told everyone to move on.

All that being said, director Guillermo del Toro has never quite conceded that a third "Hellboy" flick was DOA -- and, just as everyone pretty much accepted the harsh Hollywood reality, the prolific director took to Twitter to revive the faintest hope that Big Red could make it back to the big screen again.

"If 100k votes come in 24 hours I promise to have a sit down with Da Perl and Mignola," tweeted del Toro, who quickly followed with an open poll for fans. According to his Tweets, Del Toro wants to give everyone the "chance to vote the right way in 2017," so the only two options for your thoughts on a "Hellboy III" are a "Yes" and a more exuberant "Hell, yes."

Of course, a sit down ensures absolutely nothing. For all we know, del Toro could just be looking for an excuse to grab lunch with Perlman and Mignola. Still, it might be worth casting a ballot.
