As she gears up to reprise her "Guardians of the Galaxy" role in "Avengers: Infinity War," Karen Gillan hasn't forgotten her roots. Speaking to TheWrap, the "Doctor Who" alum revealed that she would be excited to return as the Eleventh Doctor's companion Amy Pond.

Asked if she would be interested in coming back to "Doctor Who," she said, “If they ask me, I would be back there in a shot, but I think I’m more excited about seeing Pearl [Mackie] take over as companion, because she was amazing.”

This news shouldn't be much of a surprise for "Doctor Who" fans, who have already seen Gillan return to the show following her character's dramatic exit in "The Angel's Take Manhattan." She returned for a scene in Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith's final story "The Time of the Doctor," which aired in 2013.

Gillan, who is soon to make her directorial debut with a film titled "Tupperware Party," is also set to reprise her "Guardians of the Galaxy" role as Nebula in both that film's sequel and "Avengers: Infinity War." Despite her busy schedule, Gillan seems to remain on good terms with her friend with the time-traveling blue box.

Opening May 5, 2017, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and Kurt Russell. Featuring Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, Matt Lucas as Nardole and Pearl Mackie as Bill, Series 10 of “Doctor Who” is set to hit BBC One and BBC America in Spring 2017.
