The designers behind the adventures of Marvel's spacefaring Guardians of the Galaxy haven't been shy about releasing concept art. They've already shown off early designs for Ego, Howard the Duck and Mantis. Now, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 artist Ian Joyner has released images on Art Station that features two major players in the team's comic book universe: Martinex and Krugarr, who appeared with Sylvester Stallone's Stakar Ogord in one of the movie's end credit scenes.

Martinex, played by Michael Rosenbaum in the film, is one of the original members of the team, having appeared on the roster back when they debuted in 1969's Marvel Super-Heroes #18. Based on the concept art, it looks like Martinex's final design didn't change that much, though the crystals that make up his head did get less fractured.

Krugarr, who was created with CGI and does not yet have a voice actor, has a long history with the team, first appearing in 1991's Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #1. The worm-like being served as the Sorcerer Supreme after being trained to use magic by Doctor Stephen Strange. There aren't many major changes in Krugarr's design between the early and late concept art. However, the late image does show the character wearing armor, and his eyes are bigger, higher, and sharper.

Now in theaters, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Baby Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, Chris Sullivan as Taserface, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Glenn Close as Irani Rael and Kurt Russell as Ego.
