Despite having released a teaser and a trailer, we've still seen comparatively very little of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." Both glimpses at the film focused more on letting longer scenes play out than making a ton of quick cuts that show off more of the film. Still, Dave Bautista's emotionally vulnerable and literal-minded warrior Drax made an impact in both of those spots -- and apparently that's indicative of his performance in the film itself.

In a birthday message to Bautista, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" director James Gunn revealed that the actor's performance as Drax has been "blowing people's minds in our early screenings of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - exponentially increasing the raw emotion and humor he displayed in the first movie." The director also shared a behind-the-scenes pic of himself and Bautista in his full Drax makekup.

In the trailers we've seen so far, we've seen Drax try to comfort Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) by hugging him after learning of his crush on Gamora (Zoe Saldana). In another scene, Drax excitedly pleads with Mantis (Pom Klementieff) to read his emotions next after she spills Star-Lord's "deepest, darkest secret" to the entire room.

Opening May 5, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Glenn Close, Elizabeth Debicki and Chris Sullivan.
