The follow-up to 2014's "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" is right around the corner, and while we've known for quite awhile now that the sequel would be adding Sylvester Stallone as a still undisclosed character, it appears that he isn't the only actor that has joined the sequel in a secret role. During a recent appearance on "The Adam Carolla Show," GotGv2 director James Gunn revealed that actor Michael Rosenbaum will also have a key role in the film.

Fans may remember that Rosenbaum was originally on the short list of actors for Star-Lord before that role ended up going to Chris Pratt. While the former Lex Luthor missed out on the star-making role, Gunn clearly wanted to work with him enough that he found a "key role" in the sequel for the actor.

As Gunn explained, the film has "a couple of characters who are very important to the Marvel Universe" that will officially debut in "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2." Although he wouldn't specify just who these characters are, Gunn did state that, alongside Stallone, Rosenbaum will have a "pretty decent role" in the film. The director also revealed that the twosome will be working in tandem in the film.

With Empire Magazine set to debut plenty of exclusives from the film in their upcoming issue, perhaps we can expect more information regarding the roles of both Stallone and Rosenbaum sooner than later.

Written and directed by James Gunn, the film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” opens May 5.
