Adam Warlock makes his grand return to the Marvel Universe in Gerry Duggan, Marcus To and Aaron Kuder's  Guardians of the Galaxy #150, which kicks off a story arc appropriately titled "The Return of Adam Warlock."

Marvel's announcement teases that Adam Warlock's appearance is tied to the Guardians' recent pursuit of the Infinity Stones. In All-New Guardians of the Galaxy #10, the team learned that the Infinity Stones and two members of the Elders of the Universe -- the Contemplator and the Gardener -- are missing, which can't be a coincidence. The Collector and Grandmaster have also convinced the Guardians to go on a quest for the Infinity Stones with the hope that they can find their missing brothers. What's more, the search for the Infinity Stones will help Gamora retrieve a piece of her soul trapped in the Soul Stone. Perhaps Adam Warlock is the person behind this larger mystery.

Adam Warlock was introduced in 1967 as “Him” in Marvel Comics’ Fantastic Four #66-67, before his name was changed to Adam Warlock in 1972. He was tied to the Soul Gem in the comics and ran afoul of Thanos as well as Magus, an evil version of himself from the future. The hero made a cameo in a mid-credits scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, where he was wrapped in a cocoon that points toward his introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

For now, fans will have to wait until the publisher's "Marvel Legacy: Next Big Thing" panel at New York Comic Con on Thursday, October 5 for further details about Adam Warlock's return. Adam Ross' cover for the issue can be seen below.
