In early-April, Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo and DC Comics Co-Publishers Jim Lee and Dan DiDio revealed that Snyder and Capullo would reunite for a DC Universe-wide event titled "Dark Nights: Metal." It isn't just readers that are excited, though, as Capullo returned to the drawing board and found he wasn't able to hold back from giving fans a peek at what's in store come this summer.RELATED: Dark Nights: Metal Will Feature the Return of a Dead DC HeroTaking to his Twitter account, Capullo posted a photo of some of his preliminary pencil work of the Caped Crusader for the upcoming event series, with a caption reading, "I'm baa-aack."

While this carefully cropped photo only gives readers a mere taste of what's to come, it sounds as Capullo and Snyder are already diving deep into the main course.

It was back in 2011, at the start of The New 52 - DC's line-wide reboot - that Snyder and Capullo first began their acclaimed five-year run on "Batman." After 51 issues (minus occasional fill-ins), the duo would temporarily part ways when Capullo would go on to serve as the artist on his and Mark Millar's creator-owned series "Reborn" at Image Comics.

However, Capullo made it clear that he intended on returning to DC in the future, and last October at New York Comic Con, Snyder revealed that the duo would be reuniting for a "very Batman-centric" summer event in 2017. Two months later, Capullo announced that he had signed a new contract with DC, though it would be nearly four months after that before any details surrounding the project were finally made public.

Written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Greg Capullo, “Dark Nights: Metal” is described as the former “Batman” team’s “rock ‘n’ roll epic.” According to DiDio, the entire DC Universe is at risk in the event. “Not even just our world,” he said, “but multiple worlds at risk.”

“Dark Nights: Metal” debuts in August from DC Comics.
