Green Lantern’s Michael Green to Rewrite Blade Runner 2

Well, it looks like it’s finally happening: Blade Runner 2 is one step closer to becoming a reality. According to a press release from Ridley Scott and Alcon Entertainment, the script, which was originally penned by Blade Runner writer Hampton Fancher, is getting a rewrite from Michael Green.

Green, one of several writers given screen story and screenplay credit for Green Lantern, wrote for TV shows like Heroes, The River and Smallville. He’s also done some work on Fox’s next Fantastic Four film as well as Steven Spielberg’s Robopocalypse.

Scott, who got back in the sci-fi game with last year’s Alien prequel Prometheus, is in post-production on The Counselor, an original screenplay penned by Cormac McCarthy (No Country For Old Men) set to be released on Nov. 15. He’s also working a TV movie called The Vatican for Showtime.

Scott said a year ago that the film will feature a female lead. Aside from that, though, the details have been kept under wraps. At this point, no timeframe for Blade Runner 2‘s production has been announced.
